welcome to the thoughts of a writer

hello all, and welcome to my new blog! I am so excited to start blogging again—I’ve missed it a lot more than I thought I would!

For all of the lovely new faces, I’m Katie! I’m a sophomore in college majoring in English and minoring in History, and after I graduate with my Master’s Degree, I plan to teach English. When I’m not writing or reading something fictional, I’m almost always writing or reading something for one of my many English or History classes! My top hobbies are, of course, reading and writing, but I also enjoy watching period dramas, walking outdoors, practicing the guitar, playing with my cat, Josephine, and spending time with family and friends—(does drinking hot tea count as a hobby?!).

As far as writing goes, I wrote my first novel at fourteen. I quickly moved on to writing a YA speculative fiction trilogy that I worked on from ages fifteen to sixteen. I completed major edits for book one and submitted it to an agent, but I got rejected. Since then, I hired an editor to edit book one for me while I worked on rewriting book two. As soon as I finish my rewrites on the second book, I plan to return back to the first book and finish my edits so I can begin the querying process again! I can’t imagine life without writing—it’s a huge part of my life.

When I first started blogging, I had no idea what to do or what to post, and in a sense, I still feel the same way. However, this time around, I have much more inspiration and ideas to share. I get questions all the time about my writing tips, how to plot a story, how I edit, etc., and I am so happy that I now have a place to write all of those tips down so everyone can access them easier!
